Family, Children & Maternity
Children grow up very quickly. I know - it seems only yesterday that my daughter was running in the garden chasing and playing with our dog. At over 20 years old, she does not do that any more.
When I photograph families and children It is heartwarming seeing kids beaming with a smile, hugging mum and dad and giving them a big squeezy kiss! They hold so tight that they can take your breath away. They squeeze cheeks, caress hair, pull off glasses, take hats down the face, tickle mum and dad or siblings. I give you an opportunity to bring out your inner child, be playful, engage with your kids, do an interview where your child interviews you, or wear funny glasses or hats, be moody or make up funny faces.
It is my pleasure to photograph previous moments between mum and kids or dad and kids… in fact the whole family as the tease each other and giving loving embraces. And laugh, laughter is infectious, and they will laugh even more when they come to see the photos at the viewing! That I can promise as I take shots when they least expect it!
About the Family & Kids Session

Once you book your session, we will send you a Dressing for Success booklet to give you some ideas of style and inspiration. We then call you 2 days before the photo shoot and discuss clothing, changes and colours, theme, etc, so that I can better plan your session and give you the most amazing time you will ever have in a studio! Why not try our fantastic White Box Shoot? It is sheer fun for all kids and adults. I literally use a robust large white box to create 6 to 9 (or more) fun photos for wall art that will be a masterpiece on the wall of your living room, for all to admire and remember. I have had parents in the studio - who did intend to be in the photoshoot - joining in the fun with gusto and what amazing pictures they got!
I love doing maternity photoshoots – there is such sparkle and beauty in an expectant mother’s eyes and that it is truly captivating. It is a wonderful time to remember what amazing things your body can do. Timewise, the best time to have a maternity photo shoot is after your 20 week scan, so sessions are best scheduled between 24 and 35 weeks.
If there is an older child, we just need to balance giving attention to the ‘bump’ and to the curious sibling who is eager to see: is it a boy or a girl? When will he or she arrive?
If you would like to have a session once the baby arrives, we can add a session at a later stage – there is no hurry especially if it is your first baby, you may want to settle baby into a routine before planning your baby photoshoot. I have been through it, so I know! Please note that whilst I don’t photograph newborns in flower pots, I am happy to photography the new baby, you, your partner, with or without other siblings.
About the Maternity session
Photoshoots are at the studio in Sutton; for a maternity photo shoot on location or at your home, please contact me. Whilst I have a few maternity dresses, I would encourage you to choose and bring along your own maternity dress for your photoshoot (you can get hold of one at a reasonable price in Etsy or other similar retailers). What happens when two or more creative people come together? It is an explosion of creativity that leads to creating something unique and beautiful. I have worked with actors, models, and dancers. They know how to move, how to play to the camera, how they want to look, what works for them – this atmosphere and attitude leave room for me to experiment with lights, gels, water, anything that creates something special. I never tire of working with creative people! And I don’t know why – the last few shots are always the best!
